I'M KEVIN WILSON
I was born on Long Island, NY, into a family of musicians. My father and two brothers paved the way for my early start on guitar. With a foundation in church and a love for all styles of music, I was already being asked to play professional gigs by the age of ten.
One of my earliest high profile opportunities was performing in the off Broadway production The Wonderful World of Rita, and my first professional recording session was produced by Everette Collins, the drummer of The Isley Brothers.
From there, my career took off. I have performed with Grammy Award winning artists such as Shirley Caesar and The Mighty Clouds of Joy, even taking part in their induction into the Music Hall of Fame. I have worked with Fred Hammond, Jon B, Jeff Bradshaw, Big Daddy Kane, The Five Blind Boys of Alabama, and The Ohio Players, among others. My musical journey has led me to stages across the globe: The White House, Madison Square Garden, The Apollo Theater, the Houston Astrodome, and the New Orleans Superdome, to name a few, along with international stops in Brazil, Italy, Switzerland, Jamaica, Japan, Germany, and Canada.

After years of touring, I settled in North Carolina and opened Haggard Studio, a complex of seven fully functioning recording studios and rehearsal spaces. As an educator, I have taught some of today’s most sought after guitarists, including Erick Walls, Sean Carrington, Juno, and Darnell “Showcase” Taylor. I am also the founder of the International Musicians Summit, an event that gathers world class musicians like Paul Jackson Jr., Sheila E, Guthrie Trapp, Tom Quayle, Kirk Fletcher, Eric Walls, Eric Gales, Jonathan DuBose Jr., and many more to share their expertise with up and coming talent.
I believe in the transformative power of music, both onstage and in the classroom. My passion for educating the next generation of musicians is at the core of my work, and I remain committed to inspiring others through my experience, creativity, and love for the art of guitar.

But, but, but...
Still have doubts? Let’s squash them!
🎸 But, can’t I just find all this for free on YouTube or other online platforms?
Sure, there's a lot of free content out there. But it's often unstructured, inconsistent, and lacks the depth you need to truly improve. Gospel Guitar Bootcamp offers a structured, comprehensive curriculum designed by a professional guitarist.
🎸 But, I want to buy that shiny new guitar or amp.
New gear is always exciting, but it won't make you a better player. Investing in your skills and knowledge through professional education will have a much more significant impact on your playing.
🎸 But, I’m just a beginner.
Perfect! We have a bootcamp entirely dedicated to beginners.
🎸 But, I’m a seasoned pro.
Just like the beginners, the pros get a separate bootcamp too. I want to make sure no one feels bored or lost, so I have separated the bootcamps based on knowledge level.
🎸 But, I’m not a gospel guitarist.
While my bootcamp has a strong focus on gospel, the principles and techniques taught can be applied to any genre. Plus, you might discover a new love for gospel!
🎸 But, I’m already a master of chords.
That's great! But my bootcamp offers much more than just chord lessons. From music theory to performance techniques, there's always something new to learn.
🎸 But I have no desire to play professionally.
Whether you're playing for a church, a local venue, or just for yourself, the skills and techniques you'll learn in my bootcamp will help you deliver a better performance.
🎸 But, my guitar is not that good and is pretty old.
The beauty of The Gospel Guitar Bootcamp is that it's not about the gear you have, it's about the skills you develop. You can learn and improve on any guitar. As you progress, you may choose to upgrade, but a high-end guitar isn't a requirement for joining.
🎸 But, how do I know you can teach?
Great question. I've taught students from all levels for over 50 years. Just because someone can play doesn’t mean they can teach. Teaching is a whole different skill. That’s why I don’t just show you what to play; I break down the why behind it, so you can actually understand and apply it.
🎸 But, I've tried online lessons before and they didn't work for me.
This bootcamp is not at all like your typical online class. Most online classes are just a bunch of recorded videos. This bootcamp is entirely live (delivered over zoom) so you'll get my attention, be able to ask me questions, and I will be able to provide corrective feedback. While we can be 1,000 miles apart, this will feel more like an in-person class than an online one.
